Frequently Asked Questions About Slings
What is a patio sling?
A patio sling is the actual material that is being stretched by the two rails. Patio slings are made using heavy duty fabrics and materials that are specially made for slinging applications. Only patio slings should be used to replace old slings that are tearing and deteriorating. Some patio furniture is constructed with a sling configuration. While there are a number of different sling configurations, the most common type sling outdoor furniture has two metal or aluminum frame rails on each side of the chair or chaise that stretches a piece of material for you to sit on.

Why do patio slings need to be replaced?
Aside from common accidents like sitting on your sling furniture with sharp objects in your pockets or children mistaking patio sling furniture for their own personal trampolines, patio slings can become dry and brittle after several years of continuous exposure to the outdoor elements. Between the sun, rain, heat and cold the material that the patio slings are made with will eventually become weak and begin to crack and tear making the sling unsafe to sit on. recommends that you replace your patio slings about every 3 years or when they begin to become brittle and dry and begin to tear to avoid any accidents.
How long do patio slings last?
There is no way to tell exactly how long a patio sling will last. If your furniture remains outdoors your slings can last from 2 to 6 years depending on where you live. However, storing your patio furniture indoors while it is not in use or during the winter season can dramatically increase the life of your patio slings. recommends replacing slings every 3 to 4 years to avoid accidents as can become dry and brittle and begin to tear after several years of continued exposure to the sun, rain, cold and heat.
